The Wayne Salzmann Trio
Guitarist Kelvin Kaspar is one of the best kept secrets in Wisconsin. He is an extraordinary guitar player and is only beginning his rise to the top of the modern jazz scene. Known for his dark, rich sound, Kelvin adds a melodic element that truly makes this trio unique. Kelvin is currently pursuing a Jazz Studies-Performance degree for guitar at The University of Wisconsin in Stevens Upright and electric bassist Eric Ross is a natural bass player in high demand performing with the finest jazz musicians in Wisconsin. Eric is currently finishing his undergraduate dergree in jazz studies at The University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point. He has held the bass position in the top Jazz Ensemble and top Jazz Combo at UW Stevens Point for the past three years. The first set of featured music will consist of John Scofield pieces from his trio albums “En Route” and “This meets that”, as well as compositions from the popular Scofield album “A Go Go” which he recorded with Medeski, Martin and Wood as the rhythm section. In set two the trio will present many of Pat Metheny's most famous compositions from albums “Bright Size Life” and “Trio 99-00” and ending with select pieces from a rare recording that Metheny and Scofield co-produced entitled “I Can See Your House From Here”. Metheny and Scofield’s music has influenced and inspired several generations of jazz listeners. The Wayne Salzman Trio is continuing the tradition.
