The Jazz Quartet - DIG is back at the Fox Note with many fresh arrangements of classic West Coast tunes from the early fifties. Leader Brad Curran presents a Baker/Mulligan front line of trumpet and baritone sax backed by the minimalist piano and bass rhythm section. Curran’s projects over the years have made him somewhat of a jazz archivist. His gigging with a nonet playing Miles Davis’ “Birth of the Cool” a few years back has shown him to be dedicated to keeping classic jazz alive. Like the nonet this quartet uses some of the original charts that put Baker and Mulligan on the map. This is pure swinging melody from the very first down beat. - You dig?
