FULL BLOWN JAZZ JAM
The Fox Jazz Fest now in it’s 15th year is central Wisconsin’s premier annual jazz event. Brought to the Fox Valley every Labor Day weekend by the Jazz Corner Society, dozens of local businesses, organizations, performers and the stalwart dedication and guidance of pianist/composer John Harmon - this small fest with a big heart is a 100% free event of world class jazz to the community. Two days of music in beautiful Jefferson Park in Menasha! Besides the best local jazz on planet earth, past headliners have included Clark Terry, Carl Fontana, Bill Watrous, Marlene Shaw, Arturo Sandoval, Marv Stamm, and David Sanchez. The Fox Note is a proud sponsor of this event and this year will be hosting a “FULL BLOWN JAZZ JAM SESSION” in Princeton to benefit the 2008 festival. On hand will be many of the great local musicians who make this area their home. Mike Kubicki and his trio (Mark Urness, bass and Dane Richeson, drums) will anchor the festivities providing a solid rhythm section for dozens of instrumental soloists as they exercise their “blowin’chops”.
This is a great opportunity to hear many different soloist’s interpretations of jazz standards in an open ended and relaxed small club session. Expect to hear flugelhornists, flautists, vocalists, guitarists, maybe a clarinetist or two, trombonists, swingers, boppers, all flavors of saxophonists. Jam sessions are known for the unexpected. Be prepared for some seriously wonderful surprises. For the price of $25 you get a “come-and-go” pass all afternoon and includes a great buffet provided by Two Chez Restaurant.
