Dan Trudell
B-3 Hammond organist Dan Trudell is all soul. His recognizable sound in the genre of jazz organ trio has just the right amount of grease and intellect. With a strong grounding in the blues and swing Dan harnesses the multiple keyboard possibilities of the B3. He can squeeze out long fluid melodic lines that are unpredictable as well as logical. Taking full advantage of the B3 as a rhythm instrument Trudell will build tension and excitement by employing staccato rhythmic bursts that propel his own solos and give creative ideas to his sidemen. Downbeat Magazine calls Dan Trudell, "The best organ player now working in Chicago." New City says, "Trudell is probably the hippest Hammond honcho you've never heard of." Dan has numerous professional credits including stints accompanying singers Joe Williams and Aretha Franklin. He has also performed with prominent jazzmen Nick Brignola, Alan Dawson, Jim Rotondi, James Clay, and Matt Wilson. Dan’s association with Pat Mallinger and The Sabertooth Organ Quartet established a long time gig at Chicago's famed Green Mill jazz club – a venue he still performs at. The Dan Trudell Trio features Mike Standal on guitar and Dave Bayles on drums.
